How to get started:

Make up a short story of between 100 -200 words. Don't slave for hours over it - I'm not analysing your literary merit! I just need to get a feel for how you write, how you punctuate, how you spell and so on. Send it to me, preferably handwritten, not typed, with a copy of the assignment note (see next page). Do not send any payment!

Your story will be positively marked and suggestions will be made for incremental improvement via your follow-on assignment.

I will look at spellings, syntax, grammar and style, and suggest specific things to practise or to include in your follow-on assignment.

I will return your story to you with a Tutor’s Record and suggest an assignment for you to do when you feel ready.

If you feel that what I offer meets your needs, then send in your second assignment to me with another assignment note, but this time include a covering Tutorial payment of £5.50 (US$7.70) (cheque or postal order), payable to ‘T. Perry’.

I will mark it and return it as above, suggesting a follow-on assignment as before, and I hope that as you complete assignments you will achieve a sustained and measurable improvement in your English in a way that you will find enjoyable, rewarding and cost-effective.

Please note that I will not communicate directly with under 16s, although I am pleased to work with them via a parent/guardian. If you are under 16, please ask a parent/guardian to counter-sign the assignment note. I will return your marked assignments to your parent/guardian so that s/he can monitor all correspondence.

Having said that, I am keen to work with any student of any age from any country – provided that I can communicate in English!

I do not work to any curriculum and there are no targets, exams or qualifications. My tutorials, based on over thirty years’ teaching experience, will help you to achieve improved results in your chosen field because your command of English will be better – that’s my objective! You are in control – you send in assignments when you wish and you can stop the programme whenever you wish.
